OC stamp by onnanokoMIX OC stamp by onnanokoMIX
"OC" stands for "original character", not "obnoxious copy"

Been wanting to do this one for forever.

Pretty much, changing another character's hair/eye color does not make it your own. If it did, that would sort of defeat the whole purpose of being "original", wouldn't it?

Btw, fancharacter =/= original character

I don't even call them "Original Characters" anymore. My 'own character' or something because I know damn well mine aren't 100% original. Kind of hard to do that. lol

I had this drawing (not traced) from a few years ago that I dug up recently. I lost it now but I remember running out of markers, so I just used different ones to color it.

When I found it, I thought "these colors look like a nice palette so why not use them on a character with a similar design?" and that's how Jademist started.

I was in the Teen Titans fandom at the time so I created this whole elaborate backstory for her that had absolutely had nothing to do with the original character (Angora from Horseland).

Apparently this fan character is invalid because "omg you copied the design, so you obviously stole the personality and everything else therefore putting no effort into it whatsoever."

Fluffy cats with bangs that wear a collar are very common, and therefore can't be claimed. However, I am guilty of basing her off of Angora too much (this is only because it fits great within the Teen Titans style) so I will try working on that.

I'm all for characters based on shows/books/games, etc. I have a few of my own. But I will say that I believe my game based ocs are still original/creative.

I also have have my own species, and many other original ocs. Like a hippocampus and a faun and a humanoid robot.

I don't like when people take a character and recolor it slightly and say it's the brother/sister of another character they didn't create.

I also dont don't like when people say their oc is the love interest of the character.

Lets use Harry Potter for a random example.

"My oc and Harry Potter grew up together and were friends  and fell in love and got married and had beautiful kids!"

Please stop.

Anyway  thank you for the stamp, I'll be using!

so totally agree with this. I've noticed some mary sue types are exact copies/wear the same clothes as their love interest. I also dont like self inserts (Its ok to base your OC on yourself partially, but it shouldnt be a full copy of you. Wheres the fun in that? thats just my opinion though, i like things to be different from me. )

You, my friend, have created this in perfect truth.

I make troll ocs, and then I let them go. I don't let myself sink into obsession. The reason I DO make troll ocs is to teach others the meaning of this stamp.

Agreed. I've seen someone turn Asgore from Understand into someone's original rabbit/sheep species, and called it their original character. That made me so mad.

As long as said character isn't a combination of the original characters, it's not wrong.

My character was originally based off of a Pokemon.
I've changed her so much since then, so she's more original now. xD

it's sad that most oc's are from fandoms.. :( when I asked my friends if they wanted to hear about my original character, their first reaction was:
"What fandom?!"
MeNo, I disagree!

There isn't anything bad about Fandom OCs, What's sad is people alienate those with Fandom OCs, which happens ALL THE DAMN TIME.

My favorite Decepticon OC, Gemstone, has such a weird creation story. She was honestly just meant to be a cameo for ONE SCENE, but she kind of pushed her way into the story after that. But Gemstone will shove her way into something if she has to and doesn't mind beating enemies up, so I guess it fits her.

EVERYONE keeps saying my 2011 OC looks like Snow Queen Elsa. But she's nothing like her, she just looks like her. Light blonde hair{though Elsa's is much lighter} and ice blue eyes...

like the power puff girls just because they're all girls!! I didn't even know about the ppg when i made it!

I should show my friend that. Yes, I admit I go CRAZY when people do an unoriginal character. Thats why it takes me, I don't know, 3 full hours to make an OC. My friend, takes 2 minutes. I'm NOT trying to be rude, but thats my perspective. Good job! Its so much like how I act!

I can create the oc's design really fast, the backstory however, could take me weeks to plan out.

Exactly. My OC's have different appearences, personalities and backgrounds. I'm sick and tired of seeing copycat OC's every day. Most of them are just stupid recolours of Canon characters and every time I see one I think "Is it that hard to design your own Original Character?" Some of my OC's designs are loosely based off people in my year at school, and one of them has a first name which came from one of my classmate's. However, copycat OC's are a pain.

To me, almost all HomeStuck characters look similar. I don't mind if you like HomeStuck but that is just how I see it. There are some OCs that look pretty cool but most of them tend to look like Gamzee. Just like how Sonic OCs always looks like Sonic (or Shadow) and how MLP OCs tend to look like Rainbow Dash.

They look all the same. I saw two different images that were two different "OCs"  that were by two different users and I honestly thought they were the same character  O-O
Didn't matter anyways because they looked like Jeff the Killer (worst creepypasta character ever)

Jeff the killer isn't the worst creepypasta character, Jane is. because Jane is just a ripoff of Jeff lol. I never really liked Jeff the Killer. Most of the famous characters have very bad stories.  But the really good ones get little attention. My favorite creepypasta has always been Candle Cove.
